Just a quick follow-up to a story from a few weeks ago regarding the teaser for a new Metal Gear Solid game, which we all thought might mean the franchise was coming to Xbox. Alas, I was certainly wrong, as Konami confirmed today that the next MGS will actually be released for the iPod Touch and the iPhone and will be called Metal Gear Solid Touch. KONAMI will make downloads of METAL GEAR SOLID TOUCH, DanceDanceRevolution S Lite, SILENT HILL The Escape and Frogger for the iPhone and iPod touch progressively available from late this month.
METAL GEAR SOLID TOUCH is an original game that brings to life the world and characters of MTAL GEAR SOLID 4 GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS (MGS4).
With direct control through the touch panel, it’s simple for anyone to move their alignment or switch to zoom mode.
Each stage’s location and characters are based on the story of MGS4. The initial download will contain 8 stages, with additional stages to be added later.
There are many ways to enjoy the game as points earned by clearing stages unlocks images and wallpapers from the METAL GEAR series.
DanceDanceRevolution S Lite, SILENT HILL The Escape and Frogger will be released prior to METAL GEAR SOLID TOUCH late this month.
This is personally disappointing as I was hoping to see this bad boy switch over to the good guy team, it’s good to see major developers and franchises make its way over to those “platforms.” Just goes to show you how important the “casual gamers” are to the bottom line. Still looking for information regarding price and release date, and will get back to that after lunch if anything is available.

That’s really disappointing it’s not coming to xbox, but extremely surprising that they’re bringing it to iPhone. Everyone keeps saying how the iPhone will change handheld gaming, and I honestly couldn’t see that happening until now. Having a big name like this makes the iPhone a viable gaming system, especially with a phone/ipod/calender/death ray machine already packaged with it.

Its quite funny. Most of my friends own a 360, and all were gloating that my basis for buying the better console was going to 360. The looks on their faces when i told them…:)
@Gavin I was def. one of those gloaters and had to put my foot in my mouth after, but then I bought an iPhone so now its all good. Plus when the ps3 price drops im gonna scoop one of those anyway.
