The Fifa Challenge

How much do you love it when your buddy challenges you to a game of Fifa.  An exhibition match… its fantastic.  After you spend countless hours playing ranked and club matches against randoms, you need to test your skill against friends.  Why?  BRAGGING RIGHTS BABY.  Its even sweeter when there is build up and shit talking on the way to your sweet victories.  If you haven’t figured it out by now I’m talking about a real story…

One of my buddies from college (lets call him Little D), has been talking up another one of my friends (we will call him Seph) since the dawn of time.  We had a party here last night and I asked Seph if he had been playing.  Seph, having studied in Manchester for the semester proceeded to brag about beating his flatmates.  Naturally, I saw my window to offer a challenge in which everyone made jokes about me getting trashed upon.

Did your representation from the Bird Nest handle shit?  It’s all after the cut as well as my opinions on playing not so friendlies…

The first game was a slop fest but I pulled out a late goal by Silva in 89th minute.  Final score:  Vallencia 1 – Lyon 0.

This game of course caused the usual shit talking because I did not put him away definitively. Seph:  “That was a garbage goal late in the game, neither of us played well.  I’m still better than you…blah blah fuckin blah”  Naturally, a second game was needed.  Now let me tell you, the second game is always huge.  If you have any rivalries with your friends, you KNOW the second game is all about proving your meddle.

Aresenal 3 (ME!!!) -  Man City 0.  No feeling better than winning with a beautiful low finesese shot from a difficult angle. Damn it feels good to be a gangsta with a hat trick from Adebayor. So what should you take from this post?

GOOOOOOOOOAAALLLLLLLLLL!!!!

It’s not that I’m good at Fifa.  It is a reminder that there is no better rivalry than the one with your real life Fifa friends.  Talk shit, play with different mathups, and play a best of 7 series for fuck’s sake.  Don’t get me wrong, club mode is a fantastic new way to play the game.   However, lets not forget our roots.  When I was playing Fifa 04 freshman year, it was all about superiority within our group.  Take a break every once in a while to play each other.
