As someone who is desperately attempting to get my character up to snuff, finding the right trinket (easily) has been a problem. I don’t have time for raids or heroics (except on weekends), I don’t do pvp too much (no time for it) and reputation trinkets are more or less non-existant.
But ho! What’s this!
The Darkmoon Faire is in town which means that Darkmoon Faire cards can be collected! Now if you’re unaware, the Darkmoon Faire used to drop cards (Eight of Warlords, Ace of Beasts, etc.) from either high level bosses or rare World drops. You’d collect eight of them and combine them into a quest item. You could then hand in said quest item to a Darkmoon Faire NPC for a cool trinket.
But with the expansion (and new profession), things run a little differently. Now, high level inscriptionists can make any cards from the four possible decks (Nobles, Undeath, Chaos and Prisims) to get any of the four epic trinkets. You can only make one per day and it’s completely random, do you could get doubles or an incomplete set.
The four decks are under the cut, along with some helpful tips to getting your own epic trinket.
Here are the four decks:
- Chaos Deck – When handed in, you get the [Darkmoon Card: Berserker!] trinket, which, when equiped, gives you a chance to gain Berserker when you are struck in combat, increasing your critical strike rating and resilience rating by 35 for 12 sec. This effect stacks up to 3 times.
- Undeath Deck – You get the [Darkmoon Card: Death] trinket, which gives you +85 critical strike rating and gives you a chance to do an additional 744 to 956 Shadow damage each time you deal damage.
- Prisims Deck – Handing this in gets you the [Darkmoon Card: Illusion] which increases spell power by 100 and has a “use” ability: you get a shield that absorbs 400 damage for 6 sec. When the shield is removed by any means, you regain 1200 mana (and has a 5 Min Cooldown).
- Nobles Deck – This deck nets you the pretty awesome [Darkmoon Card: Greatness] which gives you +90 (Strength/Agility/Spirit/Intellect depending on which is your highest) and can also do the following: When you heal or deal damage you have a chance to gain Greatness, increasing your Strength, Agility, Intellect, or Spirit by 300 for 15 sec. Your highest stat is always chosen.
Now it’s pretty obvious that the Nobles deck is the best deck to go after. Unfortunately, it’s so sought after that even single cards are up for sale for over 1000g. But do not fear! Because people are desperately seeking nobles, the other four decks are extremely easy to find on the Auction House. Which means getting one (or two) epic trinkets are within your grasp! I personally purchased the completed Chaos deck (300g) and the completed Undeath deck (900g) instead of purchasing single cards. Then bam, two upgraded trinkets! Not too shabby.
I would recommend jumping on there and seeing what you think. If you have the gold to put down, it’s probably worth it. I am now broke, so it’s back to the daily quests for me.
