Why winning matters: FIFA edition.

Here at the nest, with every landmark you get a free rant.  Unless you follow me on Twitter, you are probably wondering:  “Did Jpark die or fall off of the earth?”  The answer is neither, I have just been taking some other life goals (none of which will be discussed in the presence of our precious gaming site).  Anyway, today I have just won my 100th ranked game and I did it in style.  I have actually accomplished two personal landmarks by also getting my 100th win on a streak of 12 straight wins. Am I tooting my own horn?  ABSOLUTELY.  Why is that ok?  Hit the jump to get some of my feelings on hitting landmarks in gaming.

‘So who cares if you’ve won a bunch of games?’  Well there are a number of reasons why winning matters.

1)  Feed your ego:  Either you can be frustrated and angry about losing, or you can think about how awesome and badass you are for winning all the time.  Feeding your ego is an important part of gaming.  What do you find yourself doing when you beat Seth in Street Fighter IV (which I cant do)?  You are pumping your fist, or maybe yelling at your TV “thats what you get!”  While cockiness is not a flattering personality trait, its part of gaming.  While gaming ettiquette is important, a level of self-appreciation will make you better.

2)  Status:  The new age of gaming is transparent.  You can see my gamertag on the side of this blog.  Hell, anyone who is on xboxlive can see your record or your gamerscore at the very least.  Record/score = street cred.  Does this matter to everyone?  No.  Does it matter to the competitive brand of gamer?  Yes.  Does it matter to you?  Probably if you’ve read this far.

3)  Your Own Skill:  If you’ve read one of my other posts , you’d know I cherish the chance to play against other people I know who play (namely Bird).  All your wins only make you better.  More wins means more skill and more moves to put into play when you challenge your friends.  Pwn or be Pwned, its just that simple.
