3.1 is coming extremely quickly, so I figured this might be a great time to talk about all the cool new changes and updates.  This might be one of the biggest patches to hit, giving everyone, hardcore, casual and hasual something new to do.  So let’s get to it.

RAIDS

Ulduar

We’ll hit the raids first, because, well, this is the biggest addition.  The raid of Ulduar is coming in this patch, which brings you 14 all new bosses for both 10 man and 25 man raids. On top of this, 10 of the 14 bosses will have “hard modes” that, when triggered, will give you better loot.

The lore of the zone is quite simple – Ulduar is an undiscovered vault of the Titans (large, powerful beings that shaped Azeroth) and we are going in to investigate.  Upon further investigation, we realize that the Titan vault is not holding vast treasures or superior knowledge, but rather the Old God Yogg-Saron, a ruthlessly evil entity whose vile influence has infected not only those who guard Ulduar, but a fair amount of Northrend (which we, the players, have come into contact with in various zones).  Because Yogg-Saron has broken free, Algalon the Observer is attempting to contact the Titans about his lack of imprisonment, which could cause Azeroth to be destroyed in order to save others.  The quest line has us going after Algalon to stop the transmission, and can only be completed when defeating most of the boss modes in their various hard modes.  Sound pretty badass, right?

Hey guys!  As of 6am, Love is in the Air has gone live and I spent two hours this morning messing around with it.  Here are some tips for you.

  • For Nation of Adoration, you need “Gifts of Adoration” from all three cities.   You must talk to CITIZENS to get this once your “adored” buff is up, not guards.  I didn’t realize this.
  • When you’re trying to get smashed and throw rose petals on Sraaz/Jeremiah Payson, you have to /kiss THEN throw Rose petals once you’re completely smashed.  That specific order.  Also, this is the easiest one to take care of immediately, so you might as well get it out of the way.
  • There are more female NPCs than male NPCS in Darnassus, so I’d throw on Cologne then.
  • In Ironforge, there are more Male than female NPCS.  Toss on some cologne.
  • Stormwind is pretty split, so you can jump back and forth
  • The first five parts of the major Love is in the Air quest takes place in Stormwind, so that’s where you’ll be able to find the most people who need Mended hearts.  On the other side, Darnassas and Ironforge were somewhat empty, the former far more than the latter.
  • Also with people who need their hearts “mended” – you’ll be able to see the debuff when you click on them.
  • Personally, I’ve been hanging out in every city and making stacks of “Gifts Collections” to hand off when I need a certain item.  I’m probably going to hold onto these until Sunday when I realize what I’m missing.
  • This holiday is seriously confusing.

Good luck guys!  More tips when I have them.

The Lunar Festival has come!  Bring out the fireworks!  Go grab some dumplings!  It’s time to celebrate!

You’re probably going after that title like the world is ending, and I’m here to help you out.  As you may (or may not) know, I wrote up a much longer, more in-depth look at the holiday and some tips to complete it.  But I massively underestimated one thing:

The Elders of the Dungeons achievement is hella hard.

I mean, it’s not that hard, just involved, and you really have to commit some time to it, if only to navigate.  So we’re going to go through all the Dungeon Elders and try to find them.  Let’s go from the lowest level Elder to the highest.  C’mon!

Well I’ve been 80 for a little over a week now (I think?) and I figured I’d report on what I’ve been up to.  At the moment, a lot of content has opened up to me – I can finally run the high level dungeons and heroics, I can go around anywhere I want, I can get all the top level gear, enchants and gems.

But what I’m really working on is reputation and achievements.

I’ve completely dropped my normal questing duties (hitting up Icecrown has stopped completely at the moment) and I’ve decided to start doing my dailies.  My reasons are three-fold:

1. Gear and items.  Some of the reputations award you with epic quality gear, and lord knows I’m dying for some of that.  They also give you awesome items – revered with the Oracles (one of Sholazar Basin’s factions) can get you a “Mysterious Egg,” which, after seven days, will award you the possiblity of one of four rare pets (great for doing a pet-collecting achievement) or a large epic flying mount, a Green Proto-Drake.  These beasties are pretty badass.  I’m also an Unholy Death Knight spec, so this mount seems awfully perfect for me:

God I want one of these...

In two weeks, The Lunar Festival will be here, a holiday hosted by the Druids of Azeroth to celebrate the new year (or the Earth Chinese New Year).  It’s a fun holiday with a lot of cool trinkets and activities, but that’s not why I’m talking about it.  YES, IT’S ACHIEVEMENT TIME!

The holiday lasts a hell of a long time – from January 24th to February 12th.  There are quite a few achievements you’re going to have to take care of to accomplish this holiday’s meta-achievement “To Honor One’s Elders.”  Finishing this off awards you the title “Elder [insert name here]” and one step closer to getting that sweet Proto-drake flying mount.  Well what are you waiting for? Let’s get started!

As per usual, I’ll be listing off the easier achievements to accomplish, followed by the more difficult ones to finish off.

I got to play for an hour and a half this morning and landed myself a few more achievements! I figured I’d share them with you and give you some more tasty tips. Delicious!

Killing all those defenseless animals paid off!

Killing all those defenseless animals finally paid off!

As you’ve come to realize, each zone has one extremely important storyline/questline, and Sholazar Basin (Wrath of the Lich King’s followup to Un’goro Crater) is no different. Here we meet up with that wascally hunter Hemet Nesingwary. His quests are similar to the ones you’d see in Stranglethorn Vale and Nagrand, kill these animals, etc etc. Instead of tracking down elites, we have to track down named beasties in fun and interesting ways! After finishing off the main hub, he sends you to Dorian’s Campsite or whatever off to the west. Another quest line to kill a dragon and boom! Quest line finished! It’s pretty fun and you get some sweet gear for it.

Check out some other Sholazar related achievements after the jump.
