The VGA awards passed (the what?) and while it seems most were disappointed, we did get something good out of it: first looks!

First off, we’ve got Brutal Legend, because I brought it up earlier:

Personally, I’m so excited for this. Some of the jokes are kinda lame, but overall I love the idea so much. I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Next we’ve got God of War 3:

Cool, but I’m personally unimpressed. I think it’s more of a “yes, it’s happening” trailer more than a “look what we’re doing that innovative.” That said, I dug the first one, but I don’t think this’ll make me purchase a PS3 to play it. But that’s just me.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves:

I actually dug this. I never played the first one, but it looks interesting. Nice trailer.

And finally, GTAIV’s DLC, The Lost and Damned (great name)

I think I’m one of the few people who actually doesn’t enjoy GTA games. So I’ll obviously be skipping this. And really, do you have to show the names of people who I don’t know about? Saying this character’s name is “Billy” only means something if I know the character. Like, oh snap, Billy’s back. But then you realize his name is “Billy” and they could mean any “Billy” that you’ve ever met, because let’s face it, that name isn’t exactly a rare name to hear.

Did you like Psychonauts?  Did you find it clever, funny, smart and overall a fantastic platforming experience.  They’re you’re probably going to like this news.

Tim Schafer’s newest game, Brutal Legend, will be published by EA to be released next fall!  Here’s a game summary:

Brütal Legend tells the tale of Eddie Riggs, played by Jack Black, who is drawn back through time to a mythical world immersed in Rock and Roll folklore; where great Metal titans once ruled and power chords rang from the countryside for all to hear. When an oppressed people request Eddie’s knowledge of modern warfare, he pulls from his own experience in the only occupation he’s ever had, a roadie for a Heavy Metal band. From this springs the most hellacious army man has ever seen, and thus brings this ancient world into the Age of Metal.

Sometime in July Activision (after their merging with Blizzard) announced that they would be publishing Sierra’s games and Brutal Legend was left off the list.  The game was called a “very significant creative risk” by EA’s own CEO John Riccitiello, but it looks like despite that, they’ve decided to go ahead and publish it!

This is very exciting.  Psychonauts, despite being on multiple top ten games lists, was under played and overlooked by the masses.  I know Bird and I took turns playing it many a Christmas Break afternoon. You can find the game at any used bargin bin, or purchase the game through Xbox Original Marketplace for 1200 points ($15).  Worth every cent as far as I’m concerned.

The Brutal Legend trailer can be found here. The complete announcement is after the jump.
