Hey guys, the interwebs were hit today with some more screenshots for the first DLC to be released for Fallout 3.  The release is called Operation Anchorage.  The premise is to win back Alaska from the communist Chinese invaders.  If you didn’t get a chance to see the first round of screenshots, get pumped they look fantastic.  Destructoid has got three more here, including some ninja looking gear.  While I decided to go bruiser/tank build, this is some tasty loot for all you sneaks out there.  This is set to be released this month!

Ok thats all for now!  On a more personal note, I had hand surgery yesterday which is going to sideline me from 360 for a little while.  This is depressing news but at least I have perks and a nice fluffy couch to catch up on movies and flash games!

The VGA awards passed (the what?) and while it seems most were disappointed, we did get something good out of it: first looks!

First off, we’ve got Brutal Legend, because I brought it up earlier:

Personally, I’m so excited for this. Some of the jokes are kinda lame, but overall I love the idea so much. I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Next we’ve got God of War 3:

Cool, but I’m personally unimpressed. I think it’s more of a “yes, it’s happening” trailer more than a “look what we’re doing that innovative.” That said, I dug the first one, but I don’t think this’ll make me purchase a PS3 to play it. But that’s just me.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves:

I actually dug this. I never played the first one, but it looks interesting. Nice trailer.

And finally, GTAIV’s DLC, The Lost and Damned (great name)

I think I’m one of the few people who actually doesn’t enjoy GTA games. So I’ll obviously be skipping this. And really, do you have to show the names of people who I don’t know about? Saying this character’s name is “Billy” only means something if I know the character. Like, oh snap, Billy’s back. But then you realize his name is “Billy” and they could mean any “Billy” that you’ve ever met, because let’s face it, that name isn’t exactly a rare name to hear.

Busy day here at the nest, between regular Thursday woes and managing a staff of 3 (ha ha ha) I have a lot on my plate. None more important then this interview at IGN which reveals some of the details to the previously reported Fallout 3 downloadable content. There’s actually a lot of good stuff in there, which isn’t suprising considering how upfront all the development blogs were during the original production of F3. The meat of the article discusses the first DLC to be announced, Operation Anchorage.

The Chinese red army is everywhere, and the player will first have to secure the surrounding mountain side and then fight their way into the Chinese base. The player will have to use a lot of their standard combat skills, along with several new tools that will only be available in the downloadable content. These include interactive Strike Teams under the player’s command and unique armor, weapons, and other exotic gadgets.

That sounds pretty fucking fun, if you ask me. Granted I haven’t touched the game since the box went down, but you can be sure I will be slinging those Microsoft points to download this bad boy. This is also something to look forward to:

It will include new weapons, armor and achievements! It’s full of top-secret technology used by both sides during the war, which the player will of course be able to use throughout the main game as well.

Other morsels revealed about the other two DLCs: Level cap removed and you can continue playing after the game ends in the Broken Steel DLC, while the Pit DLC takes place in Pittsburgh. These are some delicious details and I for one can’t wait to get my xbox back, finish the freaking game, and then save up the 800 points to buy Operation Anchorage.

Quickly, and I just got a project to work on so I can’t go into detail, but check out Game On’s article about how Spore was the #1 pirated game in 2008. Of course, Spore is the game that only allowed you to install it on five computers, so the debate rages on and the piracy issue just got a little more fuel to the fire. There are some interesting points in the article though, and should prove to be a good read if you are at all interested in the piracy issues of our little industry here.

That’s all for now, I have to get back to the grind…

Take that ps3! Xbox and Windows users are getting treated to a slew of Fallout add-ons available in early 2009. Included is the Garden of Eden Creation Kit (G.E.C.K, haha!) and three new chapters for Xbox and Windows. Official Press release here. The editor is, understandably, only available for PC users, but the extra chapters seem to be for both Xbox and Windows. So…PS3 users can suck it (although this tease from the creator of God of War and Twisted Metal is pretty encouraging for PS3 owners, more on this in a hot second.) Back to Fallout; this gives me a pretty short deadline for finishing the game, which is increasingly more difficult with a broken Xbox (finally sent that for repairs today…) but it also makes me wish I bought it for the PC and I might have to give that a whirl. Being able to mod Fallout is a mix between a wetdream and a dream job, so I’ll definately check that out when it happens and let you know whats good.

For my PS3 phanboyz, I have a little scoop regarding God of War 3 (!!!!) I might just go out and buy the system for this game (and resistance 2, but shhh). If you clicked on David Jaffe’s blog before, you see its littered with F-bombs and a ton of other crap, although his points are great and you have to have utter respect for the man. To read a more approiate post about this, I will of course redirect you back to Loot-Ninja or Tawkn (new discovery, will report back on this guy later For now, I’m going to dust off the old PS2 and get to smiting deities.
